INFOCOM, 2025, our Annual Get-Together, held by the ABP Group in Hotel Hyatt Regency, Kolkata from 27th to 29th November, 2025
"It's not man versus machine, it's man with machine versus man without. Data and intuition are like horse and rider, and you don't try to outrun a horse, you ride it"
Come November & the arrival of winter, we once again witnessed the grand coming together of the leading IT minds of India & abroad in INFOCOM, 2025. As INFOCOM entered its 24th year, this year it was held by the ABP Group in Hotel Hyatt Regency, Kolkata from 27th to 29th November, 2025.
All IT professionals like me wait eagerly throughout the year for this singular event, when, over a period of 3 days, we get an opportunity to update ourselves with the latest technology trends & brace ourselves for the futuristic impacts to come.
The pundits were all unanimous that the next 3 years of our lives will be game changing & we would see more technological advances during this period than the last 30 years taken together. Some pundits have predicted that we would be seeing human clones around 2050, so much so that the lucky ones amongst us would be shaking hands with their digital twins at that time.
Since these human clones would be having a far higher Intelligent Quotient (IQ) than us, if human consciousness is also added to their abilities resulting in a higher Emotional Quotient (EQ) as well, we might be embarking upon a world where machines would take over from the humans & the worst nightmares of humans as shown in “The Terminator” series may well come true.
Gone are the days when we used to go gaga over evolving technologies like Cloud Computing (Post Covid), Data Centres, Edge Computing , Internet of Things (IOT), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Blockchain Technology, Cyber Security, 5G/6G, Quantum Computing, etc..
All throughout the 3 days speakers kept talking about Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML), Generative AI & Agentic AI, Hyperautomation & Robotic Process Automation & almost all sessions were centred around these topics. Though at times slightly boring because sessions seemed repeatative, this stressed upon the fact that the evolving technologies around AI & Robotics would shape human destiny in times to come.
As is the custom followed in all INFOCOMs, some non-technical highly entertaining sessions were embedded in between the highly technical sessions to provide us with a much needed breath of fresh air – like “Hand Shadowgraphy” by Amar Sen, “The Winning Way” presented by Harsha Bhogle, “Women in Tech: Celebrating Strength & Resilience”, “CIO Award Evening” & “Stardom Session: Art in the Age of Algoritms” by Konkona Sen Sharma with Ushoshi Sengupta.
However, the Session titled “Media & Entertainment Panel: The Dominance of Hybrid & Virtual Experiences” moderated by Yunus Bukhari where the Speakers were Deepak Tijori, Neeraj Pathak, K.K. Senthil Kumar & Samit Bhaskar Shetty was a real eye opener for me as regarding the advances made in AI powered Drone technology, which is now used by modern cinematographers for both outdoor as well as indoor scenes. Another breakthrough made possible with the help of AI is the complete transformation of any Actor or Actress to time travel to their younger or older selfs in any given movie.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience for me & I would like to thank my Principal M/s Four C Plus & DOT1 from the bottom of my heart for giving me an opportunity to represent them as Delegate in this now internationally famous event.
Sharing a few snaps taken by me to capture some memorable moments for my archives.
